SchoolTube nominated Lisa Morse the Technology Resource Teacher for the Kentucky School for the Deaf located in Danville, KY. Lisa is a great teacher that has a passion for teaching kids that are hearing impaired. She said "Everyday is memorable", just by reading this quote you can tell she truly has a passion for teaching. I feel reassured that there is a teacher like you, teaching the future.

SchoolTube: How long have you be teaching?
Lisa Morse: 19 years.

ST: How long have you been teaching video?
LM: About six years.

ST: What subjects do you teach/have you taught?
LM: physical education, health, computer technology.

ST: Did you always want to be a video teacher?
LM: No, but I have always been interested in performing arts and anything creative really. This seemed to utilize a variety of my interests. I started out doing little videos with my health classes and then doing special event videos. It has just seemed to build from there.

ST: What is your favorite part about teaching video?
LM: The reactions you get from the audience and the proud expressions on the students' faces when they see the finished products.

ST: How did the video program at your school start?
LM: How old is it? about six years ago in an informal way.

ST: Why do you consider video a class worth offering at the K-12 level?
LM: It is a great form of self expression especially for the students who can't sing, dance, draw, play an instrument....like the deaf kids I work with. Writing scripts and planning are also skills that they can carry into other subject areas. We do not have a formal video class at this time. We integrate these projects into other subjects and through special projects in the curriculum. We also have after school programs such as STLP (Student Technology Leadership Project) which is a club type set up. Students learn many different types of technology skills including video production.

ST: Do you have any advice for other video teachers?
LM: Let the students control as much of their projects as is possible so they are engaged and "owe" it.

ST: Do you have any memorable stories from your teaching experience?
LM: Every day is memorable....that's just kids right?

ST: Do you have any other comments or stories you'd like to add?
LM: I want to thank SchoolTube for providing a safe forum for students to display and share their work!
